Softat is a music collective based in Cairo, that's interested in visceral sounds, body music and the understanding of one's self and surroundings. We aim to merge the sounds of the fast-growing Egyptian hip-hop scene, Mahragant and grittier club sounds. We hope to challenge the current understandings of property in music by emphasizing collaboration in our work and with others. Not only that, but we hope that collective thinking and performance would merge the egos of the individual artists into a transcendent, larger whole and create a space where everybody feels safe, loose and unjudged.

A series of mixes and sometimes podcast episodes discussing music from the local electronic scene in Egypt, and its connection to our musical heritage. We will invite guests and encourage collaborations between local and regional DJs.
