A random Kurdish Tape vol.#1 with Darwon
A random kurdish tape vol #1: an hour set of music by artists from Kurdistan across bakur, bashur, and rojhalat (Rojava is next). This set serves as a general introduction to Kurdish music. This set focuses on upbeat dance music with slower songs to let the listener breathe. The slower songs range from rock to pop to more alternative sounds. Kurdish dance as a genre is very lively and intense, and if I had to describe it, it feels like free therapy. A trait of Kurdish dance songs is how singers often start their songs or verses. They let out a long note, and it sounds like a scream. They do this to signal the start of their verse, but it feels like utter catharsis. It feels like they are telling me to leave all my problems behind, to take a moment to vent and dance.
